About Jessie Mae

Jessie Mae Estrada is the owner, operator and lead therapist at Mariposa Eating Recovery, Mariposa Grief Counseling and Jessie Mae Estrada, LPC, PLLC.    

She obtained her Master's degree in Counseling (2005) and her Bachelor's degree in Psychology (2003) - both from the University of Texas at San Antonio, Go Runners!  She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist.  She has a passion for working with the eating disorder population and has pursued it throughout her career.  

Jessie has been practicing therapy since 2006.  She started her therapy journey working with at risk youth at a local children's shelter and independent living program.  In 2008, she moved to a local hospital working with the bariatric population, helping to create and implement a program for pre-surgical and post-surgical mental health support for those seeking the surgery.    

 She started her private practice, Jessie Mae Estrada, LPC, PLLC in 2013 with a focus on the outpatient treatment of eating disorders.  In 2020, she expanded to a group practice and created Mariposa Eating Recovery, which provides telehealth therapy for eating disorder care across the states of Texas and Florida.  

She was a founding board member for the iaedp San Antonio Chapter, having served as Co-Marketing Chair (2024-2025) and as Social Media Chair (2020-2023).  The iaedp San Antonio Chapter focuses on spreading awareness, knowledge and education about eating disorders to both professionals and members of our community.  

In 2025, she expanded her group practice to create a sister practice, Mariposa Grief Counseling to begin the journey of offering care specific to grief and bereavement counseling.
